Eden Health is a Huddersfield based voluntary organisation founded in 2015. Our team of doctors, dentists, faith leaders and allied health professionals work within the local community to help empower and support individuals to lead healthier and more productive lives. Our mission is to inspire physical, emotional and spiritual well-being amongst local communities and in particular the Muslim population in order to help create a healthier society.
The Muslim community in the UK in particular faces a number of difficult challenges with regards to health such as the rapidly rising rates of Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and Heart Disease. Eden Health hosts a number of seminars and events each year aimed at increasing health awareness and promoting healthy lifestyles, walking trips to the Lake District and North Yorkshire have been a great success in promoting physical activity.
Educating Health Care ProfessionalsEden Health organises a wide range of seminars and conferences throughout the year in collaboration with other local groups and organisations. There is a particular focus on educating healthcare staff in regards to understanding Islamic beliefs in order to deliver care that is culturally sensitive and meets both the physical and spiritual needs of Muslims. Topics such as medical ethics, Muslim dietary requirements, the Muslim prayer, organ donation and end of life care are just a few of the areas that have been addressed.
Educating the Muslim CommunityEden Health also aims to help the Muslim community engage in a more productive and proactive manner with healthcare providers, enabling dialogue and partnership working to pave the path towards effective models of holistic care.
Caring with all of us in mindAs the cultural and religious practices of Muslim patients are similar but not limited to a vast array of faiths and traditions, we hope therefore that the efforts of Eden Health will open avenues for embracing diversity and developing models of care beneficial to all.
